Hubert Soudant was born in Maastricht, where later started his musical studies, horn and orchestra conductor. He won numerous prizes in the largest international competitions, Concours de direction d'orchestre Karajan in Berlin, Concours Cantelli in Milan, Concours international de Besancon. Whether it is a concert or an opera, Hubert Soudant directs the most prestigious European orchestras: the Philharmonic orchestra of Berlin, the National orchestra of Holland, the London Philharmonic orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony orchestra, the Vienna Symphony orchestra, the Mozarteum of Salzburg, the Melbourne Symphony orchestra (where he was the principal guest conductor for several consecutive years), and the greater part of the Italian orchestras. He participates also in international festivals such as the Springtime Festival of Prague, the Bruckner Festival of Linz and the Festival of Salzburg. Following a two years period from 1981 to 1983 as principal conductor for Radio-France's Nouvel Orchestre Philharmonique in Paris, he was principal conductor of the Symphony orchestra of Utrecht in Holland from 1983 to 1986.

After a triumphal beginning in opera at the Teatro Rregio di Parma in 1985, numerous opera engagements followed in Italy: Venice, Bologne, Trieste, the Spoleto Festival and the Ravenna Festival. In 1988 Hubert Soudant became the principal conductor of the Arturo Toscanini orchestra in Parma. Invited as guest conductor for the Gewandhausorchestra of Leipzig and the RSO of Berlin, for the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, the Leningrad Philharmonic orchestra and the National orchestra of Moscow, he pursues his brilliant carrier, from the United States and Australia to South Africa and Japan.

In September of 1993, Hubert Soudant became the Musical Director of the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Pay de la Loire. In February of 1994, Hubert Soudant was chosen unanimously by the musicians of the Mozarteum orchestra of Salzburg to be their Musical Director. With the Mozarteum orchestra of Salzburg, Hubert Soudant took a tour

of Japan and United Stated successfully, and made a new recording series, Mozart from Salzburg. Also he appears many music festivals every year, such as Music festival of Salzburg or Mozart week. In Mozart week of 2003, he conducted Cosi Fan Tutte, which was well received. In July of 2004, Hubert Soudant was decorated with a golden medal and became an honorary citizen of state of Salzburg, Austria.
In October of 1999, Hubert Soudant became the guest principal conductor of Tokyo Symphony Orchestra. Since September 2004, Hubert Soudant has been a Music Director of Tokyo Symphony Orchestra.
In recent concerts, Hubert Soudant conducted Puccini's opera, Turandot with Berio finale (Japan premiere), which was highly praised its enlivened music and full of energy into the music.
